Vivienne Westwood on Wogan with Sue Lawley

Clip of Vivienne Westood’s appearance on Wogan with Sue Lawley on BBC1 in 1988 with fellow guests Russell Harty and Janet Street-Porter. The audience respond to Vivienne’s “Time Machine” collection by laughing at the models in the studio.
I remember this being aired in the 80′s and being very angry; shame you can’t see it here, but Michael Clark danced onto the studio set, which was great. Sue lawley and Russel Harty were both tedious middle england bulley’s.
gee is this chat tv or ridicule tv?
I also ways thought chat show hosts would have to keep an open mind with things that seem different in this world, their cruelty to this designer shows their arrogance, and on top of that just makes them look down right rude
Really interesting, reveals the undercurrent poison and relentless bitterness of the British hierarchal mentality. Ridicual, humiliate and crush anything that deems to be alternative, alive and creative. We haven’t really changed much since this was broadcast. J Cretin Clarkson springs to mind as a prime example.
if anyone’s ever watched the episode of kmky. with alan partridge set in france with a fashion designer on called yvone boyd. Im sure this episode got to be based on this clip

Hey great clip! I’m glad the ‘chip shop’ model speaks up and defends herself!
Which TV show is this taken from? Not the ‘Woagn’ clip, but the other actual TV show?
Thanks again!
x
It’s taken from “Timeshift: Fashion versus the BBC” which was recently shown on BBC4 as part of the Style On Trial Season.
Ah okay thanks.
X
she showed them <3
Alan Partridge perfectly took the piss out of this piece in the chatshow series.

What revolting behaviour and what beautifully crafted clothes
Thanks for posting this MBHD153, I’m going to see if this is on the BBC iplayer (the documentory ) .
Thank fuck for Janet Street Porter ……
I remember this, and Michael Clark appearing (unseen here). I think the fairy model is Sarah Stockbridge.
