All it took was Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo lacing up a new pair of shoes, the Nike Mercurial Vapor IV (in “orange peel” according to Nike’s marketing lingo) for hundreds, perhaps thousands of his acolytes to rush to the nearest soccer store (or Web site) and plunk down $210.
Style over substance? Form over function? Hagiography over common sense? In the multimillion-dollar global soccer gear business,es…. the NY TIMES

…But as Rooney has discovered, to the chagrin of Nike and certainly his manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, the latest, greatest, prettiest shoes (or boots as the Brits call them) may not be the safest. Rooney has sustained a series of metatarsal injuries, actually fractures, that have forced him to miss some pivotal games, including England’s final Euro 2008 qualifier against Russia. He sustained a similar injury on the eve of the 2006 World Cup, but rushed back into action.

Nomis are concentrating their marketing strategy in western europe this year, in the hope that they can be as successful as they have been in Australia over the past 3 years. Simon Skirrow is the brainchild of this technology and was closely involved in the production of the Adidas predator football boot in the late nineties with Graig Johnston (ex Australia and Liverpool forward). I would wager a bet that NOMIS will continue to grow as a company when player and sporting teams sponsor them.

Nomis brand boots/cleats are probably the best to own. The Nike T90 Lasers and F50.6 and F50.7s dont even compare to Nomis cleats. From comfort to stability and balance when playing.. I bought the Nomis cleats shown at the end, in Black and Red.. they were amazing, and never really had a blister since.
Nomis is now having a sale, cleats that are 300AUD are now only 100AUD… Quite the deal.

What people need to understand is that premiership (and other top level league) players where boots that are specially designed for them with special materials, not the ones that you buy from the shops, also the likes of niike and adidas will pay their players a bomb to where there shoes so people shouldn’t buy boots because a prem footballer wheres them they should buy them if they are a good boot made from quality materials and that fit well ie are comfortable, thats where Nomis come in.

Am I missing something? Why is everyone talking about shoe ergonomics when we’re looking at an incredible piece of creative advertising, something very rare these days.

moluana260706 May 8, 2009 at 23:34

awesome boots-Nomis are the best by far, quality product, well made, expensive but you pay for what you get-can recommend the Spark FG and Glove SG!
